Yoga Retreat
Hi! We’re Kal and Brian—two free spirits who’ve never quite fit into a mold, and honestly, we wouldn’t have it any other way. Our lives have been shaped by a love of nature, adventure, and meaningful connections, and we’re thrilled to share our journey with you!
Kal’s entrepreneurial spark ignited early. At just 14, she was teaching horsemanship classes that focused not only on riding but on the care, patience, and respect horses deserve. Her passion for teaching and connection eventually led her to the Sivananda Ashram in the Bahamas, where she earned her yoga teacher certifications and immersed herself in yoga, meditation, and lifelong learning. To this day, she studies with the same beloved teacher she met at the ashram, Prem Sadasivananda.
Growing up in Sag Harbor, a sailing town rich in maritime history, Kal spent her days sailing the historic bays and her evenings bartending at a beloved yachty dive. Encouraged by friends, she earned her Captain’s license and launched a sailing charter business that combined her love for yoga, the ocean, and community. For over a decade, she hosted multi-day sail retreats in the Exumas, complete with beach yoga, massages, and plenty of laughter. It was there, amidst the turquoise waters, that Kal met her soulmate—a wonderful story best shared in person…..
Brian’s journey began worlds away in South Africa. After serving in the army, he earned a law degree from Oxford University in England, only to discover that lawyering wasn’t for him. Instead, he found his calling as a consultant, playing a pivotal role in establishing iconic destinations like the Sanderson boutique hotel and Soho House in London and New York. With a sharp sense of humor and an enviable work ethic, Brian “retired” in his late 30s and set sail for the Bahamas. It was there he met Kal, who promptly invited him to sail back to Sag Harbor and join her charter adventures.
A man of many talents, Brian also authored several bestselling cocktail books while living in London. If you’re lucky, he might just lead a cocktail (or mocktail) workshop during your retreat—his creations are as fun as they are delicious.
A few years back, on a delivery cruise, Kal and Brian stumbled upon Pine Island, a sleepy fishing village surrounded by mangroves and palm trees. It felt like a hidden gem, and they knew they had found their new home. Eight years (and a few hurricanes) later, the custom retreat they dreamed of and built together is finally ready to welcome guests.
